Zhou Guanyu remains in Formula 1, becoming Scuderia Ferrari’s reserve driver for the 2025 season. Guanyu was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy from 2014 to 2018 and now returns to his F1 roots alongside Antonio Giovinazzi.
Guanyu made his Formula 1 debut in 2022 with Alfa Romeo, now known as Kick Sauber, and spent three seasons alongside his teammate Valtteri Bottas. In his career, Zhou scored 16 points throughout the 68 Grand Prix. However, at the end of the 2024 season, Kick Sauber decided to part ways with Guanyu and Bottas, creating a new line-up of Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
Zhou began his racing career after watching the first-ever Chinese Grand Prix at a young age, dreaming of becoming the first Chinese Formula 1 Driver. After hard work, he achieved this in 2022, which he proudly celebrated at the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix. Many fans cheered him on, making it an emotional and unforgettable weekend.
Despite losing a full-time race seat, Zhou’s return to Ferrari as a reserve driver keeps him firmly in the F1 paddock and occasionally on track, maintaining his dream of competing at the highest level.
